David’s professional career began when he was commissioned by US advertising giant Ogilvy & Mather to create a poster series for the 1996 Olympic Games and Sports Illustrated magazine. While still in design school, he would win gold medals for both design and illustration as well as a Show South silver medal.

After creating design and advertising for global and national brands including Acura automobiles and Reebok Golf, David joined the Venice Beach studio of renowned designer/illustrator Charles White III (Atlantis resort, Universal Citywalk, Treasure Island). While there he he developed environmental design detail and original typographic works to create a mythic Hollywood of the 1940’s and ‘50’s for Disney’s California Adventure and Walt Disney Imagineering.

Just prior to his work with EGD firm Romero Thorsen Design, David moved two doors north on Venice Beach to architectural firm The Jerde Partnership where he created innovative global branding, presentation, and environmental graphic design for clients including financial institutions, developers, and local and national governments.

David’s work has won a Broadband Emmy, an LA AdClub Belding, and has been featured in the Type Directors’ Club Annual, Graphis Poster, Graphis Design Annyal, and “Handwritten - Expressive Lettering in the Digital Age.”

Clients include: Starbucks, Disney Consumer Products, Pledgemusic, Hunt Design, CalTech, and more, in retail, entertainment, hospitality, and the arts.
